Nearing the end of July 2001, the team saw Fury and Sony become less active and the need to recruit present itself once again. This time having established ourselves more, we were able to succeed in striking defensive gold in some unrecognized CTF talent in the form of Mephit and RCP.

Mephit, a head admin of rocketarena.org and a top Quake 3 Rocket Arena player, had been dabbling in CTF previously with the clan Paradise Lost as a backup player. We quickly pounced on the opportunity to pick him up after playing a few games with him and seeing his amazing aiming ability. RCP was a tdm player, that no one knew much about. After being impressed by his attitude and skills in game we could not pass up the opportunity to invite him to the team. This solidified our roster as we were all once again looking forward to a number of upcoming online tournaments. We began preparation and our work as a team would prove to pay off.

Affliction went on to win Bannockburn Season 7, undefeated. Next, was the second CALeague Q3CTF season, where Affliction battled it out through the regular season and playoffs to become the newly crowned champions. The only and last loss the Affliction team would receive came in the 3rd week of CAL2 against eradicate, which inspired the hard work which led to the team returning the favor in the second round of the playoffs.

Shortly after CALeague Season 2, we saw the return of Kryptonix to the clan to fill as a backup for our main team. The Community CTF League started and died out before completion, Affliction was undefeated at the time. The Peacemaker's Invitational saw the showdown of the Q3CTF champions of the past vs the new Affliction squad and other newer top teams. Affliction went undefeated in Pm-I making it to the finals, which were never played because the other finalists, Executable, retired after beating the Peacemakers.

WinterHaste was the last Quake 3 Capture the Flag tournament the team ever played in. In WinterHaste, Affliction again went undefeated and won the tournament after Massive Destruction forfeitted to them in the finals.

In total in Quake 3 Capture the Flag competition, Affliction had 57 wins, 10 losses, and 3 tie games. An 82% win record. The team suffered no losses in competitive play from 09/30/2001 to 04/30/2002. Gax later went on to join the Peacemakers after our retirement from Q3CTF, he was voted an all star in May 2003 for the CTFX3 season.
